I took a recent trip to the southwestern part of the United States.   Two places I particularly liked was the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes at Death Valley and White Sands National Park in New Mexico.  Something about sand dunes in the early morning or late afternoon that provides such a peace.   The sand sculpted by the wind and the light casting magnificent shadows is nature at it's simplest.
